I have been out in different neighbourhoods to see if I could find some inherent opportunities to design local services for. What initially struck me was that there may be a need for a local information infrastructure of some sort. A layer of make-shift, temporary, local information is present in the public space. A closer look at the information given showed that the communicator often had commercial or practical agendas. Is it possible to think of an information infrastructure that is more engaging, one that encourage social interaction? Presentations are on Friday.

Have a look at this: http://hciresearch.hcii.cs.cmu.edu/engaging_cities/Submissions/Arnall.pdf from 2004.
